No money was exchanged for this review. From the imagination of actor Lou Diamond Phillips ( La Bamba, Stargate Universe, Prodigal Son) comes an epic and unforgettable Science Fantasy tale. ![]() Note: I received a free review copy of Making A Tinderbox by Emma Sterner-Radley. Stand on a table, scream, and throw the nearest thing in the face of someone who annoyed me? Normal day at court, heartling,” Elise said with a shrug. “How in the name of the gods did you know how to do that?” Nessa asked. Nessa saw that Fyhre, Cai, Jac, and Sanjero followed suit. She stepped off the table with poise, took Nessa’s hand and led them out the door. So, I and my friends are going to walk out of this tavern and then you can all fight, or make insulting bets or whatever it is you wish to do.” As that is not likely to happen, we simply want to leave here unharmed. We wanted some drinks and to make some new friends in peace. She put her hands on her hips and loudly and clearly said, “We do not want a fight. When his scream died out, Elise used the shocked pause to her advantage. He covered his heavily bleeding nose with his hands and, with a wobble, fell to his knees. The scream wasn’t as high-pitched as Elise’s but just as loud. After doing serious damage to his nose and forehead, the thick glass fell to the ground and cracked in two. The ale went all over him and the heavy bottom of the glass hit him on the bridge of his nose. She threw the glass, contents and all, in the face of the drunken man. It was a good thing that it didn’t shatter, because she was clearly gearing up to use it. She screamed so loud that it would have shattered her ale glass if it hadn’t been so thick. Lady Elisandrine Falk climbed up on the table…and screamed. Nessa saw it all happen in her mind’s eye and once more went through how to make a fist and throw a punch. Excerpt from Making A Tinderbox by Emma Sterner-Radley It was a smooth read and I barely noticed the pages going by. This book is good for readers looking for a little adventure in their romance. What I really enjoyed is how there was enough adventure in the book to sate my adventure needs while still being a fun romance. The Writing StyleĮverything flowed smoothly throughout the story. I enjoyed them and definitely would like to see what they do next. Nessa always shy and unaware of her own charms and Elise, always bold brash and daring sprinkled in with a dash of humor. Both women stayed true to their character traits. Our two leading ladies are Lady Elisandrine ‘Elise’ Falk and Nessa Clay. All is well except the strange packages that have begun to show up for Nessa and Elise and the unmarked men looking for them. Nessa and Elise could not be more opposite to each other but sharing a bed is starting to be no problem. Lady Falk’s brazen attitude and persuasive tongue has Nessa agreeing to leave the comforts of the small village she’s lived in forever and venture to start a new life in the growing town of Nightport. A damsel in distress calling from her tower window is enough to get Nessa Clay scaling a wall and tumbling through a window to meet face to face with Lady Elisandrine Falk. Nessa Clay has been planning to leave her parents farm for like, ever. Lady Elisandrine ‘Elise’ Falk has been whisked away and locked in a tower with a date set for her to marry the prince as decreed by the Queen except she doesn’t want to. I enjoyed it because of the balance of romance and adventure. Making A Tinderbox by Emma Sterner-Radley was such a smooth read. ![]()
